Solid Zinger On NY Daily News Cover

TCD has strict standards on covering tabloid topics so I'll refrain from mentioning Brett Favre's alleged transgressions. I will, however, say that today's NY Daily News cover is funny.

I also bought a Mega Millions ticket today.

John Daly Dressed for a Luau

It would appear that way but it's really the Champions Dinner for this week's British Open. Daly looks like an idiot but who really cares? I don't mind seeing this American hick sticking it to some uptight Brits with his sartorial eccentricities. Kind of reminds me of King Ralph. I also like how Paddy is definitely razzing Tiger for his transgressions. Tiger doesn't like it.

Legit Reuters Headline

"Tired Gay succumbs to Dix in 200 meters"

You definitely do not come across that headline everyday. But apparently Walter Dix really did edge out Tyson Gay at the Prefontaine Classic. Seriously, what is up with the names of track athletes?

TUI - So Euro

Oil oil everywhere. The Financial Services Authority - England's SEC - busted an oil future trader Stephen Noel Perkins for TUI. Trading under the influence. You can read the story here, but the upshot is that Perkins built up a net long position in ICE Brent crude-oil future while wasted between 1:22 am and 3:41 am in London last summer. Sounds like fun.

What's funny is that I was hanging in London last summer and was definitely not trading oil futures during the witching hours. But I was watching Snipes trade linguistics and Facebook futures at Bijou. And it actually was fun.

WSJ Dabbles in John Terry Story

Rumors have been swirling that English National Team (soccer) Captain John Terry had marital “transgressions” involving the girlfriend of former club and current national team teammate, Wayne Bridge. I am not sure how this story merits publication in the WSJ other than it loosely connects the British/Euro fascination with “football” culture to the PR and entertainment business. I just think they're looking for content juicier than healthcare and munsoned Toyotas. Anyway, not only did the journal drill Terry as a sauced adulterer, they also blew up his spot for parking in handicap spaces! There was also a noteworthy quote from a former English National team player who played in the late ‘80s (80s!), “There was always an unwritten law that you didn’t go near another player’s wife or girlfriend, and you expected the same from them.” Nice, as long as it’s OK for me, then.
