So I decided for my first post in a while I would get out of Boston and see what a popular weekend destination in New England had to offer. It just so happen that many of the TCD staff members were having a corporate meeting in Newport, RI.First place we headed on Friday afternoon after checking in was The Landing Restaurant and Bar. The Landing has a very nice restaurant area and a roofdeck but we were only interested in the dockside bar. Friendly bartenders kept the ponytails coming even after a little technical difficulty with the blender and the views of Newport Harbor couldn't be beat. The food was excellent especially the lobster roll that was not shy with the lobster.
Saturday’s weather was not as agreeable but with a solid USA tie against England to fire us up we headed to the Atlantic Beach Club just steps from second beach in Middleton, RI (see picture above). Complete with volley ball courts and live bands most Saturdays, this is the place to head when looking to catch some rays and catch a buzz. The staff was great and very welcoming even when an impromptu push-up contest ended with a brother v brother wrestling match. I hope to get back to Newport again soon and check out the Beach Club on a sunnier day but overall I think I speak for the group when I give Newport a big thumbs up.
