The Liverpool Red Sox???
EPL club Liverpool has agreed to sell the club to the owners of the Boston Red Sox (New England Sports Ventures), pending settlement of a board dispute. Perhaps Larry Lucchino will be spending more time in North West England in the coming years.
Club chairman Martin Broughton announced the sale Wednesday on the Liverpool Football Club website (Watch video). Martin gives his thoughts on why NESV is a good partner for Liverpool and compares the history of the Red Sox to that of Liverpool F.C. and how he likes the Sox's "winning mentality".
The current American owners of the club, George Gillett and Tom Hicks, the former Texas Rangers and current Dallas Stars owner, had been in dispute with club management over proposed takeovers, saying the bids, including that of the Red Sox group, were insufficient
This American was hoping for a quick resolution to this madness so he can head up to Anfield for a game without worrying for his life. Lets see how the fans react to another set of Yank owners...
