A Better Idea For Traffic Calming?

So if creepy images of little girls playing with balls in parking garages (stop it!) are a bad idea to slow down traffic, what about this?



The idea comes from South Korea, via Fast Company Design, and it goes a long way toward legalizing the way most people actually cross the street.

On another note, the fact that Jaywalking is illegal is insane. Pedestrians are in more danger from marked crosswalks than when they cross on their own. Jay-walking was only coined as a negative term in order to legalize super-fast driving in cities. It's true.
