This dude has it pretty good. Lets track his calendar year. As the well known host of College Gameday on ESPN, Fowler kicks it at some sweet bowl games in early January. He then hops a plane down to the Southern Hemisphere to cover the Australian Open. This marks the start of his hosting duties for all four tennis Grand Slam events and as far as I can tell is also the beginning of a pretty amazing 3.5 month vacation. The French Open doesn't start until late May and I am guessing that he's not chilling at ESPN headquarters in Bristol all that time. My guess? He takes the slow route from Oz to Roland Garros. Maybe by boat? Maybe an around-the-world plane ticket and he alternates direction each year?
From Paris it's on to London and Wimby. London in the summer time is 100% awesome as Snipes and C9 can attest and Wimbledon is such an epic sporting event. Chris then wraps up his tennis tour under the lights of NYC in September. Wimbledon is the greatest championship, but the US Open is the best tennis tournament. So entertaining, under the lights, Labor Day weekend, America, Heinekens, Fed in black, Roddick firing it up, Djokovic pissing everyone off, Ivanovic dressed to kill, Nadal battling on battered knees.
The US Open Championship ends just in time for NCAA football season and Fowler gets seriously busy. Thursday nights and all day Saturday. But he travels to the biggest games, is a hero among the college set and hosts a great show. Not too shabby. He definitely earns is 3.5 months off in the Spring during the Fall.
Maybe "Sweet Employment Gigs" will become a slightly regular feature? I mean, I will be looking for a full time gig 12 months from now and any/all ideas are welcome.
Sweet post C9. Would you rather have Fowler's gig or Nantz's? Tough decision but you know where I stand. I just love that CBS sports blazer.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Chris escaped London with an "Ibiza '08" purple visor?
