Apologies to the 3 of you waiting anxiously for my Masters recap. You should know that I have a no blogging policy on Masters Sunday and my birthday, hence posting today. As indicated by the enthusiasm in my previous Masters post, this, in my opinion, was one of the best Masters in recent memory. All the storylines culminated in to one feel good story of Phil Mickelson winning his 3rd jacket 11 months after his wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Seeing Phil and Amy embrace alongside their smiling daughters only made me happier that Lefty had triumphed over Tiger. I won’t get in to Tiger other than that golf karma was in full force on Sunday. Here are my Masters Superlatives:
Shot of the Week: Sunday. Phil in trouble in the pine straw on 13. Knocks it to within 10 feet of the pin and gets the birdie.
Awkward moment of the Week: Butler cabin green jacket presentation. Always is. 3 sweaty dudes sitting uncomfortably close to each other, in rigid chairs, doing cheap interviews. The donning of the green jacket is clumsy and the recipient always misses at least one sleeve on the first try.
Dude of the Week: Proving that 50 doesn't prevent you from being a sweet dude - Freddie Couples, you’re just the man. Van/dockside hybrid, no socks, beating up on the young guys, radiating massive amounts of chillness and possessing the best swing in the tournament. Keep it going, Freddie.
Schadenfreude moment of the Week: Tiger missing an easy birdie put Sunday on 14, then lipping out the tap-in par put coming back. Nice bogeweiser.
Round of the Week: Anthony Kim on Sunday. This guy has all the shots and will win majors. Absolutely stormed up the leaderboard Sunday afternoon.
Player Tweet of the Week: Ian Poulter and the dog. That dog is awesome and gets second place for Dude of the Week.
Sad story of the Week: The Rumor that John Daly was selling Loudmouth Golf apparel across the street from the August gates. Lets hope this is only a rumor.
Lawn Mowing of the Week: Billy Payne publicly mowing Tiger's lawn for being a bad person.
That’s it for 2010, friends.
Great post, Butler cabin almost gave me a panic attack.
