Jay-Z Suing Big Papi

13 K's in 26 at bats and now being sued by the Jigga Man? Sweet April, Papi. Jay-Z owns 40/40 Clubs in NYC, AC and LV and apparently David Ortiz owns a forty/forty (cheeky using the spelling instead of the number) club in the DR. The Jigga Man doesn't like that Papi is using the name and slapping him with a law suit.

I don't know why Jay-Z calls his club the 40/40 club, but I REALLY don't understand why Papi is trying to use the name. The original 40/40 is a benchmark used to measure an unbelievably productive offensive season in Major League Baseball: Forty home runs and forty stolen bases in one season. Papi, have you even stolen 40 bases in your entire career?

In case you're wondering, the only players with 40/40 seasons are: Jose Cansesco in 1988, A-Rod in 1998, Barry Bonds in 1996 and Alfonso Soriano in 2006. Are we sure that one of those 40's isn't for IQ?

  1. According to Hova on the original name choice "we wanted something exclusive -- the 40/40 Club in baseball is as exclusive as it gets,"

Kind of a stretch if you ask me. And if you really want something ultra exclusive that also reflects a party atmosphere why wouldn’t you go with "Perfect Game on Acid"?
