WAGS of US Open
As Snipes confided in an offline conversation, the US Open is a bittersweet event. Tournament for tournament, it is possibly the best. New York. Night matches. Progressive tennis outfits. Showmanship. Heineken. While the epic men's quarterfinal Thursday at Wimby is probably the best day of tennis in a year, the Flushing Fortnight gets it done. Period.
However, the US Open also signals Labor Day and an end to the definition of epic: summer. Look it up.
There is no better way to whet a tennis fan's appetite on day one of the Open than a look at the wives and girlfriends of our tennis bros. Check it out here
FYI, Jelena Ristic - pictured below - gets my nod despite the dubious achievement of being Novak Choke-a-vich's girl. If he redeems and reacquaints himself with New Yorkers this year, I will credit her.
