Yes, really. Built in the 90's, the "Tower of David" is home to 2,500+ squatters in downtown Caracas, Venezuela. David Brillembourg built the office building at the height of the banking crisis and people have been living there since 2007. There is electricity that is siphoned right off the grid and many of the "homes" have satellite TV. There is no running water and people have to travel up several flights of stairs to get to their homes, which were once meant to be the offices for bankers.
