I realize that "flopping" or "diving" or any action done to get a call go your way is part of every sport, but it just seems a little more prevalent in soccer. This clip below sums it up:
The guy in the red literally grabbed the other guy's hand and threw it into his own face to get the call. You could even see him brace for impact. That's pathetic. As I said before, this type of thing happens to all sports to an extent: basketball, football, etc. but it just seems even more black and white in soccer.
You also have to blame the refs, for without this terrible call, the dude in the red probably wouldn't even resort to such antics. This gives sport a bad name, hard to believe that it's the most popular sport in the world.

ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I also can't stand watching *some* soccer games because diving is so prevalent. Unfortunately, diving is what comes to mind for a lot of non-soccer players/fans too. (Crash, I guess this is true in your case). However, soccer is a badass game, takes incredible athletic ability and does have a lot of contact.
