Preemptive Caption Contest Winner

Strange photo from The Atlantic's In Focus Signs of Spring photo essay, but the caption really brings it home:
"A Canada goose nests in an urn as a deer keeps a watchful eye at Forest Lawn cemetery in Buffalo, New York April 8, 2011. For at least four days, the buck stood guard near the nest of the goose as she sat on her eggs inside a large urn at the cemetery, home to the remains of President Millard Fillmore and rock icon Rick James."

Rick James, bitch!

Google Street View Veritas

Amazing tumblr feed of great moments caught by Google Street View cameras. There are so many amazing pictures (and a lot of people giving the camera the bird or mooning it or flashing it), but the one below is one of my favorites:

There are also a surprising amount of prostitutes

and accidents

Photo of the day: Lake Michigan

From my hotel room via cell phone, still a great shot of the Lake first thing in the morning. Severe T-Storms made getting here a little dicey...gusting up to 70 mph.

Excellent photo spread from the Big Picture Blog

The Big Picture blog from Boston.com never fails to deliver. This set of photos is very interesting in particular. Check them all here. The one below caught my eye and the description is really interesting. Drug growers were feeding about 14 wild bears dog food to keep them nearby as they figured it would scare off law enforcement and thieves. Whoa

From the archive: "Vans and the places where they were"

Maybe this is only shocking to me, but this is actually the second of two blogs about vans that I've posted on before here. This is purely a photo blog of vans parked in various locations. It's actually much cooler than it sounds. Check the full show here.
