Rest In Peace Maggie

We had to put our dog Maggie to sleep on Monday night. I've been a mess ever since - can't believe how much I loved that dog. In her honor, here's a re-post of the canine commandments. I'm so thankful I read this before her death because it really struck a chord for me and I spent the last weeks of her life saying a proper goodbye. We always honored the commandments, but we really honored 8, 9 and 10 in the last few weeks.

  1. As a big fan and longtime friend of Maggie and fellow dog owner, I was obviously very sad to hear the news.

Best Maggie memory: She was aware that she would be receiving presents every Christmas morning and would actually go to the stocking that had been hung for her, knock it down and open all of her gifts on her own. You really need to witness this to appreciate how aware of the concept she was and how determined she was to open every last item.

    Thanks for posting.

  2. Sam and Chrissy,
I'm so very sorry to hear about Maggie. I can definitely appreciate your sadness, and the fact that you have wonderful memories of her.
Loved Phil's comment too. I can just see her doing that! So cute.
    Hugs to you both.

  3. Dogs are the best...kids in fur coats as my grandmother used to say. I skipped school for a week when my first dog died (I was 16), and left work in the middle of the day when my second guy passed...walked right off the trading floor. Read your post this morning and just came across this article below...seems like the SEAL team may have had a four legged friend with them on their mission...some great pictures in the slideshow...
