Will somebody please hire coach Bob Green? - Rick Reilly Go Fish Blog - ESPN

Rick Reilly has a good piece on espn.com, he interviewed Bob Green, former football coach at Montana Tech. The column is all quotes from Green, some of my favorites are:

"The way I describe him is he looks like Jane but plays like Tarzan."

After a big win ... "I feel like I just had a Viagra cocktail with a Cialis chaser."

This guy reminds me of Coach Soule, really old school, has a line for everything. Coach Soule coached many of us TCD contributors in lacrosse. He had a football background, which is either hit or miss in terms of translation to lacrosse, but he was very defensive-minded and was a great lacrosse coach as well. He had a drill that a lot of us hated at the time, but looking back now it really was a great one and it really taught you to "keep your head on a swivel." In "the little green man" drill, the defender would be on the low post and had to keep his head on a swivel so he could see the "little green man" (this was a pad used in football practice for the linemen) cutting through. The object was to leave your man and slide to the little green man to break up the play, only it was never that easy. Coach always used to put a little muscle into his cuts and many of us fell victim to quite a collision, but it was all in good fun. On the van rides to practice on our Florida trips, he used to get us to blow the air horn out of the van window to scare the cattle grazing in the fields. Quite the guy, salt of the earth.
