Yahoo! Has given their Top 10 NFL Tailgate cities, Houston at #1 is a surprise to me but I guess they have some of the Oilers fans that just couldn't convince themselves to root for the Titans.
Here are the top 5:
1. Reliant Stadium, Houston, TX
2. Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, KS
3. Ralph Wilson Stadium, Buffalo, N.Y.
4. Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI
5. Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
I'm surprised that Soldier Field and M&T Bank didn't make the list. Read the full article

Why not more warm weather teams? Day drinking outside in the sun is best.
ReplyDeleteGood observation. Probably because they'd rather be drinking on a beach rather than some parking lot. Think about some of the warm weather markets: SD, TB, JVille, MIA... I think all but MIA have had to deal with potential blackouts this year b/c they're not selling out games. LA doesn't even have a franchise and it's a huge market. I think there could be a correlation between warm climate and shitty fans.
ReplyDeleteI like that hypothesis and I think some data flow might be necessary to prove it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, to your point, what the hell else are you going to do in Buffalo, Green Bay or KC on a Sunday?
I'd love to model this out.
ReplyDeleteModel away. I will say this about Buffalo: although it's a rough part of the country, they have some incredibly loyal fans. Think about all of these losing seasons they've had, yet the fans still come out to tailgate and pray for a W. Those are real fans. Similar to Phil and his love for his Nets, although he did jump ship for the Cavs the past couple of years. Gross.
