I mean honestly who gives a flying F*CK.
I have so many problems with this whole saga and they don't even begin with Lebron not signing with the Knicks. Unfortunately, I gave up on the 'bockers about 11 years ago...which means I hung on past the Starks Game 6 AND 7 debacle against the Rockets in '94 and the Sprewell experiment that failed against the Spurs in '98. I guess I feel slightly vindicated by Lebron admitting that his whole free agency drama was not a big deal by virtue of him signing with the Heat. Why? Let me indulge you.
1) The rumor was broken so early. I mean honestly, when was the last time a good sports rumor was proven untrue. I can't remember (but maybe that doesn't mean much). But seriously, why would ESPN cannibalize their own breaking story? Oh, because they had the inside scoop to "break" the whole time. What a joke.
2) The Heat won't win. Ok, maybe they will. But will anyone care? I hope not. Basketball is a team sport, but not if your team is comprised of at least three players who really, really, really want the ball. Sure, Bron, Wade and Bosh won over 8 games in the Olympics, but that is not the same thing as winning 82+ games. I look forward to the Big Three (and yes Celts fans, these guys are the new Big Three) competing with one another for shots, points, and press.
3) The Heat will win but it will diminish Lebron's career achievements. He will never, ever be the guy who delivered a championship. He should talk to Kobe about this one.
4) Who cares. My sincere hope is that ESPN built this thing up and then delayed its telecast for so long that no one actually cared when the announcement was made. I doubt this is true, but it's certainly the way i feel.
Lebron's play here was to stay home. Instead he's dove head first into an unlikely championship that I hope never happened. I hate rooting against players and teams, but despite LOVING South Beach I am anti Lebron the whole way.
your third point is excellent...apart from diminishing his legacy by exposing himself as the seething douchebag that he is, he also can't claim to be "the man" on this team. Cant wait for Sunday and the finals of the World Cup. This tournament has been phenomenal
