Longest tennis match ever

Isner and Mahut will go into their 3rd day of their match when they step onto the court tomorrow, they've been playing for over 10 hours so far and they're currently tied at 59-59 in the 5th set.

I am no tennis expert but I can typically understand what's going on in a match, but I have no idea what is happening here. I thought that once they get to 6-6 in a set they play a tie-break so that a player doesn't have to win by two games?

I thought I would open this up to TCD staff and readers for some insight.

Help me out here, please!

  1. Crash, that is how it typically works. However, in Wimbledon (and maybe the Aussie or French?) if it gets to 6-6 in a fifth set, they continue to play games until someone wins by two. Isner serves up absolute missles. I am sure it is a classic match where both dudes serve up bombs and keep holding serve. I wish I had been paying attention but I am ripping a lot of leisure time in ME. Adios.
