Condition of the day: anosognosia

Anosognosia is ignorance of the presence of disease. Typically, this is found in patients with paralysis whose brains deny their condition.

HOWEVER...it's also used to describe people who are too stupid to know that they're stupid. The example given in today's Times is of a bank robber in the Pittsburgh area who was shocked to get caught when he had taken the precaution of covering his face in lemon juice (someone was clearly messing with him and told him that would obscure the security cameras).

Anyway, a couple of researchers posit that this guy is too stupid to know he's stupid and is therefore an anosognosic.

I like this concept and think it applies to sooo many people out there.
