Far-reaching analogy of the day: "How the bank crisis is like the Vietnam War"

Apart from the fact that The Times just seemed generally wasteful in printing Rick Moranis' poem as an op-ed yesterday, (I mean, if you guys have that much extra space lying around, I've got time and opinions.) I generally love the publication and respect their opinion pieces.

However, I'm not getting on board with this analogy which claims that the recent/current bank crisis is just like Vietnam because it was brought on by our "best and brightest" thinkers and because skeptics went ignored. Let me be the first to remind The Times, THIS IS HOW EVERY CRISIS IN AMERICA STARTS! Don't you think the fools who sent us over to invade Iraq had Ive League diplomas and trust funds? They did! Weren't there a shitload of skeptical people calling W. out for faulty/erroneous intelligence? There were!

Let's not insult those lost in the Vietnam War and our living veterans by comparing their experience with the mortgage crisis. Banking troubles do NOT equal war and money lost does NOT equal human casualties.

To be honest, I think I'm still angry that The Times printed something by Rick Moranis. Holy Shit! The guy who played Lewis in Ghostbusters gets space on the page?

Just fired up on a Monday morning.
