From TIME Magazine: The history of the presidential opening day first pitch

This a great slideshow. Below are two of my favorites - check out Taft's sweet 'stache. It walks you through the history of this tradition which is celebrating its 100th year this year. I also love how everyone booed Hoover because they couldn't drill beers at the game during Prohibition.


And of course the man...FDR. (not surprising that he holds the record for having thrown out the most first pitches of any President.)

  1. I wish presidents would go back to wearing suits and throwing the pitch from the stands. It's more more dignified than forcing them to try to look like athletes when they're really just wrinkled frail old men.
