Greetings from Jamestown! I thought I'd post a few fun facts about the one-time "Furniture Capital of the World."

-The population of Jamestown was 31,730 in 2000 according to the U.S. census.

-Jamestown wss named after James Prendergast, a settler who bought a lot of land and with the help of John Blowers, built a log cabin in 1810 which was the first building in the town

-The first plane to ever fly over Jamestown flew over on September 28th, 1911.

-In 1951, Stanley A. Weeks was elected mayor.

-In 1954, Samuel A. Stroth was elected mayor.
