Good morning folks and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Another turkey day is upon us, bring on the over-eating and over-drinking and embrace this American holiday and all its glory. In my family as with millions of others in this great nation, football is as big a part of this day as the turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and spirits. The NFL has played games on Thanksgiving ever since its inception in 1920. Since 1970, The Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys have played each year, and in 2006 the NFL added a third game and began showing it on its own network. This is a travesty; most basic cable packages do not include the NFL network and because of that, many fans are left without the third installment of this America-fest. What's worse is that the Giants - Broncos game is easily the best game being played today and of course most of us will be unable to watch. USA Today's Michael Hiestand spoke with a VP with the League who says that they are not considering changing the traditional schedule on T-Day: "Howard Katz, NFL senior vice president, says the NFL 'hasn't discussed a (T-Day) change in years.' And, whether that's intentional or not, the league is getting a sort of payoff from Fox's Green Bay-Detroit and CBS' Oakland-Dallas Thursday: They make the NFL Network's primetime New York Giants-Denver look like the day's best game — helping a league-owned channel so far distributed only in about half of U.S. households." It's time for a change, Howie!
Crash's Thanksgiving Day picks:
Green Bay at Detroit: Look for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to post a 10+ point win over the hapless Lions who are without Matthew Stafford.
Oakland at Dallas: I would like to see Oakland pull this off but I think the underachieving Cowboys will pull this one off.
NYG at Denver: This is a big game for both teams, but I think the Big Blue go into Invesco and right the ship against a Denver team that has run out of steam.
Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving everyone.
