MNF - Rumble in the Superdome, Round II

Greetings from Terminal B at Logan International Airport. This week I've decided to write about the great matchup on Monday Night Football between the New Orleans Saints and the New England Patriots.

The Saints, as most of you know (or should know) are 10-0 and they have the highest-scoring offense in the league. They've scored 369 points over 10 games and Drew Brees has passed for 2,746 yards and 22 TD passes. His QB rating is 105.8 (something I usually don't pay too much attention to, but it's worth noting here).

On the other side of the ball is another great QB. He's a 3x Superbowl winner and was the MVP of the league for the 2007-08 season. He has thrown for more yards than Brees this season (3,049) and only 2 less TD passes. His QB rating is also about 100 for the season at 100.4 and this will be the second time he has traveled down to the Big Easy for a game. The last time he was here, it was for Superbowl XXXVI, a game he won. The Pats defeated the St. Louis Rams (dubbed "The Greatest Show on Turf") that year and Brady was named the Superbowl MVP for his efficient performance and game-winning drive.

Brady led the highest-scoring offense in league history in 2007 and Brees is on pace to do the same thing this year. Since 2006, no QB has more completions or TD passes than Brees, although that data is slightly flawed since Brady missed the 2008 season with a knee injury.

Tonight's game is going to be a battle. The Saints have a great defense and the Pats have been shaky on D as of late. Both teams will want to make the most out of each possession. This will not be a 28-14 game, the team that wins this one will need to do better than 35.

Crash's prediction: 48-45 Patriots.
